Cultural scientist Manuel Bolz, linguist and human geographer Martin Döring, and cultural historian Norbert Fischer will give short presentations on knowledge and narratives about the North Sea coast. Life on the islands, storm surges, and the discourse on plastic waste on beaches are the topics addressed by the three scholars from the fields of geography, cultural history, and cultural studies. What do we know, what is reported, and what do we pass on when we talk about the North Sea coast?
Cultural anthropologist Ruzana Liburkina will lead the subsequent discussion.
6:15 p.m. – 7:45 p.m., Edmund-Siemers-Allee 1, West Wing, Room 221
Lecture series: Von Schönheit und Schrecken
